THE TOP 3 MISTAKES THAT WILL COST YOU A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP.

 

Athletes are consistently reaching to new heights in their sport. With each passing year, new records are shattered and the human body is pushed to its limits. Everyday athletes follow suit by pushing themselves harder, choosing rigorous training patterns, and taking their diets to a new level. Despite the meticulous care and training that athletes take on, they experience chronic overuse and injury. A specialist in Specific Care are to athletes, just as Cardiologists are to those who suffer with cardiovascular disease.

 

  1. DON’T JUST GET ONE OPINION.

Most athletes receive treatment from a medical doctor, orthopedist, or a physical therapist and often times find themselves either benched, or taking pain medication. When I broke my ankle in the pole vault my senior year of college I was devastated, all I could think about was, “all of my hard work went down the drain.” But little did I realize, the next 6 weeks would be a fast recovery, a recovery many thought was impossible. I had a foundation of a healthy functioning nerve system that ensured a faster healing response and that was what enabled me to compete my last meet on a healed ankle when everyone else told me my career was done. Now, athletes come to my office with conditions like scoliosis, frozen shoulder, concussion trauma and get back on the court, field, and track faster with Specific Care then they would by getting steriod injections, or being put in a brace for weeks and going through rigorous therapies.

 

 

  1. DON’T CHOSE A SPORT BASED ON POPULARITY.

 

Often times kids are torn dividing their talents between two sports that they love. This happened to me. I was a gymnast, I had been one for 10 years prior to my introduction to pole vault. I was bound and determined to be a Georgia Gym Dawg! As it turns out, the better option was to excel in pole vault. Pole vault is what paid for college. I had no other option then to commit all of my time energy and effort into pole vault. I see so many kids try too many sports or a sport that is more popular, and they end up with nothing but a trophy in the end.

 

  1. NOT GETTING YOUR NERVE SYSTEM CHECKED

This is how I stayed on top and ahead of my competition. If it wasn’t for my specific upper cervical care during my gymnastics days in high school and my pole vaulting years in college, I know my performance and recovery time would have suffered and probably wouldn’t have led me to a scholarship. I suffered very few injuries as an athlete, yet I was a participant in very extreme sports where injury was an almost guarantee.
