MURPH 2015

MEMORIAL DAY IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! THAT MEANS MURPH IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!

One of my very first Wods was MURPH, what an intro into Crossfit, little did I know at that moment is what set the stage for rest of the journey ahead. The part I love about Crossfit is giving your heart out in memory of the fallen, people that might not know about Crossfit just see names like Fran, Helen, Amanda but what they might not understand are the names are made after soldiers that died for us! Having lived in a military town it has given me an entire new look on what it means to Crossfit!

This year I will celebrate MURPH on the other side of the state. Although, I will miss sharing the experience of my favorite WOD of the entire year with my friends for life, I am excited to share MURPH this year with my new Crossfit community!

YOU THINK IT’S IMPOSSIBLE?

I thought wearing a vest would be impossible, but I did it last year 2014! Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it! This year I might be jumping out of an airplane before MURPH! Hooah!

“MURPH”

For time:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.
